Here are the latest updates on topics related to the CAM Program and the people who participated in it. The three or four most recent updates will appear in chronological order (from oldest to newest) as things progress.

March 30, 2026: Some Asylum Decisions Resume

The U.S. government announced that it is resuming decision-making on pending asylum applications except, for nationals from 40 countries. Among them are Venezuela, Cuba and Haiti. March 5, 2026: Court Upholds Pause on US Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP)

A court has upheld the pause in the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). Processing of cases under the CAM program is part of USRAP, so these cases remain suspended. However, the case challenging the pause on refugee processing will continue in court. Read more here.

February 9, 2029: Appeals Court Halts Reinstatement of TPS for Honduras

A federal appeals court has suspended the December 31, 2025, decision, and the cancellation of TPS for three countries, including Honduras, has been reinstated. People with TPS from Honduras are now unprotected from deportation, and their work permits are invalid. While the legal case will continue to be debated in the courts, it is crucial to review your immigration options as soon as possible. Read more here and connect with the National TPS Alliance.

November 21, 2025: Review of Refugee Cases Arrived in the U.S. since 2021

The U.S. government announced it is pausing permanent residency (green card) processing and will review the cases of individuals who entered the U.S. as refugees between January 21, 2021, and February 20, 2025. November 28, 2025: Pause in Asylum Decisions

The U.S. government announced that it is pausing decision-making on all pending asylum applications for all nationalities. Read more about this policy and how it may affect you here. To receive relevant information for asylum seekers, learn about ASAP, and register as a member here.

September 3, 2025: USRAP Lawsuit Hearing

The Ninth Circuit Court in Pasadena, CA, heard arguments on the suspension of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), but has not issued a decision in the case. Read more about this lawsuit here.

December 31, 2025: Court Reinstates TPS for Honduras

A court ruled that the U.S. government violated the law by canceling TPS for three countries, including Honduras, and has reinstated those TPS designations. However, the government is expected to appeal this decision and the case will continue in the courts. Read more here and connect with the National TPS Alliance and contact them if your employer does not accept your work documents or if you know of TPS recipients from Honduras who have been detained.

September 8, 2025: TPS for Honduras Ended

People from Honduras who had TPS will no longer have this protection, and work permits obtained through TPS are no longer valid. Read more here and connect with the National TPS Alliance. A hearing was held on November 18, and the court will decide whether protection will be reinstated or terminated permanently.

February 28, 2025: Lawsuit over Parole Programs

Several organizations filed a lawsuit challenging federal actions related to various Humanitarian Parole programs, including CAM Parole. Any decision in this lawsuit would affect only individuals with a pending application to renew their CAM Parole (“reparole”). Read more about this lawsuit here.

February 12, 2025: The CAM Hotline Went Out of Service

The Central American Minors Program (CAM) Hotline went out of service without prior notice on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. If you contacted the CAM Hotline after this date, unfortunately, your call will not be returned, and your messages will not be answered. 

January 20, 2025: Executive Order Pauses Refugee Admission Program

The U.S. federal government issued an executive order that paused the processing of cases under the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), which includes CAM Program cases. All scheduled interviews and travel were canceled. Read more about this executive order here.
